Position Overview:

The Director of Continuous Improvement for the US Business Group drives continuous improvement initiatives geared towards further developing our lean culture by standardizing and eliminating waste out of our operations. These initiatives are crucial to growing our employees, delivering business results, and exceeding our customers’ needs. The role’s responsibility is to deliver sustained improvement in all operations through continuous improvement approaches and employee involvement as well as to safely and cost-effectively deliver quality parts to our customers.

Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
 
  • Manages the development and execution of the US Business Group Continuous Improvement Program.
  • Drive a Continuous Improvement methodology through the development of diverse strategies and best practices for the organization.
  • Leads and develops others on Lean methodology and Six Sigma.
  • Forward-looking, leading the development, deployment and management of continuous improvement capabilities and opportunities throughout the US Business Group.
  • Promote lean activities in support of culture change and process improvement.
  • Ensure integration of other tools and methodologies with Continuous Improvement to ensure successful delivery of various initiatives.
  • Leads continuous improvement events and training exercises.
  • Plan, prepare, execute, review and audit process improvement events.
  • Develop and manage a team of all plant continuous improvement leaders.
  • Work closely with the Director of Quality and the Quality team to ensure collaboration across functions.
  • Ensure contractual compliance and that customer obligations are met.
  • Perform other duties and projects as required.

 

Required Education & Experience:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar degree
  • Professional certifications in Lean, and Six Sigma (e.g. Black Belt) are highly desirable.
  • 7+ years of experience leading continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
  • Relevant experience in manufacturing processes
  • Strong project management experience
  • Proven track record of leading successful continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean, Six Sigma or Total Quality Management.

Skills & Abilities:
 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in change management and driving the cultural transformation towards a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Computer proficiency in MS Windows and Office applications, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • In-depth knowledge of working with MS Power Business Intelligence
  • Ability to prioritize, follow through, and build relationships with customers, internally and externally
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation to drive decision-making and process improvements
