POSITION SUMMARY

Assist with recruiting and coaching the Men's and Women's Track and Field program primarily jumps coach within established college, ARC and NCAA guidelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with the identification, evaluation, and recruitment of potential track and field student-athletes.
  • Assists in monitoring the academic progress of each track and field student-athlete in the program.
  • Helps to coordinate the physical development of each student-athlete through appropriate condition, strength, and practice session.
  • Stands accessible to the media, alumni, boosters, and public to publicize and promote the program, in coordination with the Director of Athletics.
  • Advises and counsels student-athletes academically, athletically, and socially.
  • Represents the College at American Rivers Conference meetings if necessary.
  • Work home contests as event manager as assigned.
  • Supports the mission and vision of the College and respects the College's Catholic tradition.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required. Master's degree preferred. Experience: Collegiate coaching experience preferred.

Other Requirements: Background in jumping events is preferred. Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association-Division III and the American Rivers Conference as they pertain to collegiate track & field. Demonstrated success in coaching track & field and recruiting quality student-athletes. Also, must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the techniques, fundamentals and drills associated with track & field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, colleagues, student-athletes, and subordinates. Ability to analyze strengths and weaknesses of the track & field program and develop problem-solving solutions. Possess a high energy level, strong work ethic, and a positive attitude. Good organizational and communication skills. Ability to represent the philosophy of Loras College to alumni, members of the Loras community, the media, and prospective students. Skilled in the use of a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite.
