Danfoss in Loves Park, IL is seeking an experienced variable speed drives engineer to lead our Application Development Center (ADC) and laboratory as part of our Business Incubator Team. The team's role is to win market share by solving customer issues with a technical approach for key customers in application areas including Electrification, Water, HVAC, and Heavy Industries. The Application Development Center (ADC) Lead Engineer will own the ADC laboratory. The ADC Lead Engineer will direct the planning and execution of application development activities including application demonstration, hardware in the loop, simulation, and proof of concept development.

Job Responsibilities

* Identify opportunities to develop the Application Design Center equipment and capabilities.
* Develop product solutions, including first-of-the-kind solutions, utilizing the existing and planned portfolio and identifying portfolio gaps required to gain business with dream accounts.
* Perform proof of concept of technical solutions in preparation for commercialization
* Provide input to Product Teams for commercialization on technical solutions and business cases.
* Collaborate and hand off mature applications to After Sales Service.
* Work with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product applications at key accounts. Develop relationships with Product Management, Product Development, S/C, Customer Service, Product Teams, Sales, Business Development, Center of Excellence, and Customers.
* Interact with key customers to understand their requirements at a systems level and provide technical support.
* Provide on-site support to the customer from business development to commissioning of first-of-the-kind systems.
* Ability to travel within the region 15%.

Background & Skills

Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE preferred).
* 7-10+ Years of relevant experience with variable speed drives and their application.

The ideal candidate possesses these skills:
* Deep understanding of the Danfoss product portfolio and applications at the systems level.
* Experience developing drives and drive applications.
* Experience with hardware, software, and simulation of drives and drive systems.
* Experience in electrification (e.g. Grid converters, Battery storage systems, Fuel cell systems, active front ends).
